Earth Council Geneva's mission is to raise awareness of global concerns, and to this end ECG has decided to open a number of courses without charge
Earth Council Geneva has launched a campaign for financial support. The Board of Directors is seeking funding so that we may continue in our efforts to move forward aggressively and take advantage of the considerable momentum built since our inception in 2002.

We've designed our Climate Change Literacy Program to enable stakeholders at the country-level to better understand and articulate climate change issues. Thirteen years after the entry into force of the Climate Change Convention, basic literacy on this critical issue is still limited to a few. One of the crucial challenges facing the sustainable development community is the deficit in knowledge and skills on climate change and the strategies to counter it. In response, developed and developing countries are finally taking strides to mobilize reliable tools and information to draw up and implement coherent national climate change strategies. For some developing countries the challenge is even more acute; amidst growing fiscal deficits and shrinking budgets, they must equip civil servants to respond to the challenges of climate change. The Climate Change Literacy Program is helping meet this challenge cost-effectively. Through e-learning, the Program is empowering governments and civil society to manage climate change issues at regional, national and international levels. What can we do together? You can partner with Earth Council Geneva. Our instructional and knowledge managers, with your experts or those whom we have chosen together, can develop climate change courses updated with the latest research, data and innovative solutions. This can be accomplished in as little as four to six weeks. We can market these courses through various media, or offer them without charge to select groups. The possibilities are endless. ECG provides a hosting platform and technical support 24/7. As an example, in November of 2002 the UNFCCC Secretariat chose Earth Council Geneva to develop and host the online Greenhouse Gas Inventory Review Training Program. They saw the critical need to train international experts in GHG inventories, and came to ECG for help. The program was a resounding success. |
